Running an affiliate business promises huge online income if one runs it in with all the clear methods in mind.

1)Target Specific Niche

A huge number of affiliate marketers made the mistake of promoting lots of affiliate programs that spans across different niches. Eventually, I left my potential customers confused not knowing which area I can claim expert status to. My sales suffered eventually.

Therefore, for branding purposes, it is important that you should focus on a niche area. Do some research on your competition. Aim to become an expert in that area and eventually, convince your potential customers that you are the one that they could rely on to deliver.

2)Always cloak your affiliate links

This is another crucial tip that some affiliate programs do not teach. There are many IT-savvy people out there who dislike the idea of buying from websites with long and ugly web addresses. There are even fellow affiliates who delete the affiliate IDs of certain programs they fancy so as to deny a portion of the earnings to the ID owners.

If you do not wish to suffer an unncessary loss of income, please do cloak your affiliate links. Use affiliate cloaking programs or php scripts.

3)Use Article Marketing

This is one of the most powerful form of marketing that you should never neglect. Article marketing does not deliver short term immediate results. Instead, it is considered a long term strategy. Articles drive targetted traffic to your website as they are read by only people who are interested in that particular topic of interest. Although, it takes a longer time for your to write an article and it takes some time before results are seen, the effort and patience are well-worthed in terms of the eventual results produced.

4)Create Opt-in Pages

Always remember not to send your prospects to the affiliate website directly. Create your own opt-in page and do a little warming up with your potential customers to secure a long term relationship. Offer them a free report or product in exchange for their contacts. It is always crucial to have your own opt-in list and not leave everything to your affiliate product owner.

5) Follow up with your prospects

Most of us, affiliate marketers, are only concerned with targetting new visitors to our website and neglected our existing pool of customers in the list. This is a grave mistake as relationship and trust are crucial elements to future sales. People do not buy simply because they love the product, they bought things based on the trust level that have of the affilaites as well. Therefore, you have to think long term when it comes to running your affiliate business. Set your autoresponder to send out a series of emails to your opt-in list. Do not always attempt to sell products in your emails to your list. You can choose to offer them value like free products or advice that will inevitably build the trust they have in you. This will ultimately brand yourself as the expert in that particular niche area that you are promoting as well.
