How To Start A Pet Based Home Business
By Kal Bartal
Are you one of those people who love animals? If you are one of those people who love animals, you might want to set up your own pet based home business. The good thing about selling products for pets is that you get to have some fun by doing the things that you really want to do and at the same time earn some good money. Besides, if you have kids in the house, they will probably have as much fun as you do. Kids and pets belong together so you will not really have any problems asking your kids to help out in your home business. Getting your children to help in your home business is a great way of teaching them how to be responsible.
Setting up your business
Setting up a pet-based home business is not really difficult. You don't need to have a big space to keep all your stuff. If you open an online store where you can sell your products, you will only need to keep a few things in your house. You can just run to your supplier any time you need something. Since you will not need to keep a huge amount of inventory of pet products, you will not need a lot of money as capital investment. A few hundred dollars for your computer with internet connection and your initial inventory will be enough. For your web hosting, you can just use one of those free sites for a start to save on cost. There is really no point of wasting too much money on web hosting when you can have something for free. Besides, those sites that are offering their services for free are not really that bad.
Selecting your products
There are lots of pet based products that you can choose from. If you want to specialize on organic products for pets, you might want to take a look into organically grown food for dogs as well as toys that are made of biodegradable and organic substances. The good thing about selling these types of products is that you get to help save the planet at the same time. Besides, according to experts, organic products for animals are a lot safer because they do not contain any harmful chemical additives. Healthy pets make great companions.
When planning to sell organic pet products, you should first locate a good supplier of these products. Find a supplier of organic products near you so that you can just simply to go their place whenever you need something for your store. Always make sure that you have steady supply of the products that you sell in your site otherwise you will have many disgruntled clients in your hands. Having disgruntled clients is not really a pretty thing so make sure that you give good service.

What do I need to start a home business selling my own products in Connecticut?
I am not buying and selling items I did not make, but instead am looking to write off the tools I need for my craft. What types of licenses would I need? Is there a site this is all spelled out? I tried doing some research on my own, but I know very little about this so it’s hard to recognize if I’m on to some information.
home business selling products online?
whats the best way for a beginner to promote a new product online?
It depends what you want to sell. Getting listed in the search engines takes time naturally unless you link to authority sites like digg, ebay or youtube or you could do Pay Per Click with adwords but make sure you set a budget.
Look at mailing lists offline as well to direct people to your sales page.
Hope this helps
What can I write off at end of tax year if I operate a small home based business selling nutritionl products?
How can i start a online business selling products? ?
Hello, Once again!
I really want to start a home business selling pet supplies. I was reading some articles, but none answer my question: What do i have to do? where can i keep the merchandise? do i have to buy wholesale or just buy a few at first? Do i need a P.O box, and is it a good idea, and so much more. My point is, what should i do first on order to have a online store?
Thanks so much guys!
Starting on eBay is a good suggestion. Start with a few auctions to keep the recurring fees down. If you see that there is potential then I would push ahead. However, be forewarned that eBay is expensive on a percentage basis. I ran an eBay store that had small profit margins. The problem was the monthly fee (if you have a ‘storefront’ there) plus the roughly 10%-12% they take from your sale. If you find that you can sell and make money on eBay, you should use it as a tool to promote a site that you set up for yourself.
Doing some homework up front is a necessity. Find out where you can get your supplies, what they cost and what quantities that you must buy in. Figure out where you are going to store them (and what that might cost. A few shelves in your basement or garage is no big deal, but if you have to rent a storage space then that is overhead!)
When you have the cost of your items, then start doing searches online to see what the products are selling for. If you can buy an item for $2.00, is it selling for $2.25 or is it selling for $4.00? If your gross profit margin is only $0.25 (before expenses) then you need to figure out if there is any profit and if it is worth your time. Remember if you can find it for $2.25 online, so can a customer who will usually choose the cheapest (or close to cheapest) product they can find online.
Also, don’t forget about accepting payments. There is a cost involved. PayPal (another eBay company) is easy to set up and use, but they get a portion of your profits too. There are ways to accept credit cards, but it will be dependent on where you set up your site (some sites offer shopping carts and the ability to accept credit cards).
There are places online where you can build your own product store which is a good idea for keeping costs down. If you can’t do the set up by yourself then contact a web designer to find out how much they would charge for set up. The great thing about websites is that there are many great ways to promote a website that are very inexpensive. They key for you will be how to get your products listed for sale inexpensively.
Finally, a PO Box is a great idea, especially if you are going to use the post office to ship your products. This will create a buffer between your home and your business (you won’t have to worry about a knock on your door for someone looking for supplies.)
Good luck with your endeavor! I hope that this info helps. I provided a couple of links too that you may want to explore. There are many ways to make money out there. You just need to make sure that the one that you latch on to is a money maker and not a money drainer!
im looking 4 a home based business selling products from a warehouse please help if u can?
ive heard of these business’s were you take their products from a catalog and sell them and they ship to the customer but i cant find one ty
Hi, i looked into this as well and found some on ebay- did not have any success as all the items available to sell were selling for cheaper than i could on ebay.
What i did get involved in that does the same type of thing-ex no stock of product required just telling people about the products and giveing out buisness cards sometimes some samples-esentially network marketing was the company that i am now a rep for. Company is Trilogy-healthypetnet and for a very low start up cost and 10.95 a month i now have a buisness that with my efforts has tripled in just 4 months.
There is alot of interest in healthy products for pets and people right now and the trend is continuing.
Take a look at the company and products by going to my site and i would be happy to answer any questions about this buisness if you are interested. You can contact me on the site. i hope you find what you are looking for- this worked for me and i am very happy with the results. You can click on the opportunity to learn alot about the buisness.
