Does anyone else have ads on their cpanel when using Hostgator?
I called them and asked for the ads to be removed as I am paying for their largest hosting package. The customer rep. said that they weren’t ads and this is the convo

Scott B.: Welcome to HostGator, how may I assist you?

jasmine: hi, I want to know why there are ads on my cpanel

Scott B.: let me check that for you…

Scott B.: what is the domain name?

    jasmine: ———-.com

Scott B.: OK, one moment while I check on that…

    jasmine: no problem

Scott B.: These are not advertisements. HostGator has begun to offer our Shared customers new cPanel features.

Scott B.: Template monster is web site template company that provides amazing web site templates that are easy to use and soft on the pocket.

Scott B.: AdBrite provides a service available for customers that need assistance with advertising and can monitoring the traffic received to help you better target visitors with relevant ads.

jasmine: those are ads. I dont’ want them. Can you remove them?

    jasmine: please
Scott B.: We are not able to remove those from the cpanel. They are just options for you to use in the future in case you need them.

what? why am i paying so much for hosting if they add ads to your cpanel?

I am changing host companies anyone else have this experience?
I shouldn’t need to upgrade in order for them to remove ads..IF you paid for something and hosgator tells you they won’t put ads on you they should live up to it. and how come ads can’t be seen on their demo?

If they insist on keeping it there than they should pay ME for keeping it anywhere on my site and that includes the cpanel.

Why not switch to a reseller plan? Then you can remove the ads completely and even add your own branding and theme to cPanel, in case you want to outsource some of your bandwidth.

I think the easiest program to use is microsoft front page. You can create your own web site on your computer, then just upload it to whatever host you want.

Following along the help menu, or looking at tutorials online, makes creating a web page(s) so easy.

What is the best web hosting domain company for starting a business website?
I am starting up a small business and would like to find the best web hosting service with domain name to store my site.
I have created web sites using iWeb before and it would be helpful if there were templates that I can use to help me design my pages as I am not a web designer.
I was looking into hostgator, but I’m not sure if they allow you your own .com domain. I like their $100 Google Adwords credit for signing up.

How do i publish template for by website through html editors?
I’m using hostgator.com and have tried Kompozer and coffee cup. editors say they published correctly but it does not show up in my website editor or when you visit site. I opened my html file under my control panel and it seems that kompozer did change the html in that file, hosting support is not the greatest. Am I doing something wrong? I am a little new to this.

You shold check that you putting the files in the right directory
uploading to the wrong abouve the public diretory will hide all the files from view.
they should be in public_html and below

I am looking for a webhost that allows you to build your site from scratch, not with templates.?
Just looking for a click drag application. Godaddy, Hostgator etc., you have to use a template or have them build the site for you at a hefty price. I know webstarts is one but I dont like that you cant change the appearance of the navigation bar like its color or fonts.
meaning you can build a site from a blank page, not from a selected template, add your own banner, background etc. Godaddy you have to select a template, webstarts you start from a blank page.

On a site that you don’t use templates for, there’s no navigation bar or color – you start with a blank file – on your computer – and design and develop your site. Then you upload the site to the host.

What you want is a program that builds the site for you but lets you do anything you want – that’s a contradiction in terms. Either you build the site any way you want, or you use a program to build it the way the author of the program wants to build it.

GoDaddy has a site builder program, but you don’t have to use it – you can do it all yourself. (If you don’t know how to write a site you have to use the site builder program . It’s your choice – learn to do it yourself or use the program. there’s no middle choice.) NONE of my sites – and I use GoDaddy – was built with their program, and I have complete choice of how they look.
