i’m having trouble deciding on a topic for my online affiliate wesite?
some of my interests are web design, animals/pets, quotes/poems (i like reading them, but i don’t write them very often)

ive though about writing a wesite on how t ocreate a website, but it seems like there are alot of websites already out there like that. same with a website about pets and animals. i’m not sure what kind of online website would work with affiliate marketing. any ideas?

I’ve tried chasing just about every niche market imaginable, with marginal success. I finally decided to stop worrying about the “hot niche” and just started to sell and promote products that interest me. Since making that decision, I’ve enjoyed internet marketing more than I’ve every imagined.

So my advice to you is to screw what the “gurus” have to say…pick up your favorite magazine, find something you like, and start to build your niche website from there.

      Cheers!

    affiliate marketing for online gambling?
I want to create a web site for online gambling and become an affiliate for some online casinos. But Isn’t online gambling illegal in the u.s. therefore making my idea to promote it illegal as well?

    1. Matt

It’s not illegal to promote online gambling from the US, in fact the UIGEA actually targets the financial transactions relating to online gambling and not the act of gambling itself.

There are plenty of US based marketers who promote various forms of online gambling. Just make sure you promote reputable brands who will pay both you and your players!

afiliate marketing online..good or bad idea?
My son says he’s found a new way to make money with affiliate marketing online. is this a good idea or something that should concern me?

It’s good, shows he has entrepreneurial skills.

All he is doing is advertising products for other businesses on his site. He will be paid ‘per click’ or a %age of sales generated by referrals off his site.

Some are good and some are crap though, Google Adsense is one of the better ones and Amazon is brilliant !!

Showing Expenses Towards Affiliate Marketing Income?
Hi everyone, hope you can help.

I’ve been doing online Affiliate Marketing for a few months, and I’m just wondering what expenses or costs I can put towards this type of business when I have to do my self assessment. The obvious ones are costs for computer, buying domains, hosting.. But after that I get a little stuck on what I can put as business costs so the Tax man doesn’t take a major cut of the business profits.

People have said to re-invest the profit so the money is used in another form of business and not losing out to the tax man. Everything here is above board and not hiding or cheating money away from the government, but I would really appreciate ideas and suggestions of ways to either re-invest the money say buying property for example, and what I could show as costs for a business which is oriented around the web.

A bit of background: Currently I have a day job and do this in my spare time. I’ve registered this business as with HMRC and fully aware of my work situation. Unfortunately I’m very new to this and don’t understand the full process of how this works. I like the idea of investing money in property, and thinking of renting out our current property then remortgaging it to buy a new one.. a friend of mine says this would help the reduce the tax on my profit which i get through Affiliate Marketing as there is little over-heads.

The profits of each business will be treated separately by Inland Revenue unless they’re related companies, in which case they may add them all together.

Other than the expenses you’ve already identified, you can also allocate up to 20% of your domestic utility bills to the business when you’re working from home. Do you belong to any organisations that you pay a subscription to? Do you have any maintenance costs for your computer?

Check the HMRC site for more information. Also contact Business Link.

Is it legal for kids under 18 to do affiliate marketing?
I am under 18 and really want to make a information website and make money from affiliate programs and ads. I am hoping to make a huge amount. Is this legal? Do you think
doing this could make me six figures a year? Is a website like I just explained considered an online business? Are there any other online business ideas (like auction site, membership site) that could make me six figures a year?

You can do it but better opt for the nominee of your payment to be above 18 because the only problem under age is the income tax if you earn too much than the limit specified. Anyone can do affiliate marketing but to be successful you need to create a free blog or a website of your own give it a very good look and then start driving traffic to your site through visitor who is searching for that product your promoting only.
